I am so excited to be chatting here today about what I’m crushing on. Houseplants have been a life long obsession of mine. It’s also been a life long quest of mine to keep them alive! While I still may not be a pro at keeping houseplants alive and thriving, I am at least mediocre now. Beautiful spaces featuring the use of lush houseplants inspires me to get better at caring for plants.
I find it especially interesting and charming when plants are in kitchens and bathrooms. Those spaces can feel cold and sterile, lacking the vibrancy that plants bring to a room. Plants add something special to an ambiance of a room. Personally, I don’t like to spend a whole lot of time in a kitchen. But homes featuring lots of plants in a kitchen draw me in and I actually want to be in those spaces. Plants are the friend that always listens.
The best way to get the most impact with houseplants is to cluster them. Especially for those of us who haven’t had the best of luck and are working with smaller plants, grouping them together makes them visually bigger. Bigger is better, right? Plus it’s just so boho chic, who can’t love that?
It also helps to have cute containers for them to live in. Terracotta is perfect in a lot of the spaces featured because it plays well with wood tones and vintage/boho decor. If you’re struggling to keep houseplants alive, here are a few of my all time favorite, can’t kill plants: Pothos, Sansevieria, Peace Lilly. I can do a more in depth post on fabulously hard to kill house plants, too. I’m loving my plants in my bathroom…..they’re the first I’ve had in a long time other than a few succulants–really hoping I manage to keep them alive!
Plants in a bathroom make me swoon! I hope they do stay alive. Hopefully all the moisture in the air helps!
