What’s On My Wicker Shelving Piece?

September 1, 2016 by CORINNA HENDERSON

In my bathroom, I have a freestanding wicker cabinet. I freaking love this thing for storagw. The piece itself I thrifted through Craigslist. And there’s a few thrifted pieces on top of it, too. So let me take you on a peek of the piece for #thriftscorethursday.

The little brass trunk I use for burning incense (my favorite way of bringing a scent to a space!). And the basket was just 25 cents.

On the lower shelf I have another thrifted basket that I keep a handy hand towel in. And the blue and white container was less than $1!

And here’s the view when you’re sitting on the toilet 😛

Before we dive into my favorites from the feed, I wanted to introduce our guest host for this week. She’s also been perusing the tag and has chosen a few favorites to feature as well!

What’s On My Dresser?

August 11, 2016 by CORINNA HENDERSON

Are you ready for another edition of “What’s On My?” With ups and downs of thrifting and often times forgetting what I’ve thrifted, this has turned into a really fun way of showing you what I’ve thrifted and how I’m using it. Today I’m taking you into my bedroom to share what I’m using to decorate my dresser. The piece itself is a vintage mid century 9 drawer dresser with the original very danish modern mirror.

Processed with VSCO

The dresser wasn’t a deal of the century, but I got it for a good price and absolutely love the beautiful construction. Starting from the left, I have a basket whose weave looks very cool and geometric. In it I have a beloved pothos and I’m training it to grow along the mirror.

Beside that is a trunk I use for bathing suits. I’ve had this thing for more than 10 years and I think I bought it at Walmart but I’m not certain.

Processed with VSCO

Leaning on the trunk is the pink ukulele I bought on eBay. One night I couldn’t fall asleep until I had a ukulele and I have loved this piece so much ever since.

In front of the ukulele are candle votives I picked up at the dollar tree. I try my best to shop fair trade, made in USA or second hand but I’m quite happy with the impact $5 made here.

Then there’s the picture of my boy and I, a catch all dish from Target’s Nate Berkus line and the wood and hobnail milkglass lamp with one of my favorite scarves draped over it for ambiance.

What do you think? I tried to balance minimalism with my maximalism tendencies.

What have you scored? Did you tag it on Instagram with #thriftscorethursday? Listen to Nike and just do it!

Whats on my dining room buffet (its a dresser)

August 4, 2016 by CORINNA HENDERSON

If you missed last week, for the next few weeks I’m going to skip sharing new finds in lieu of sharing old and forgotten thrift scores in different areas of my home (vignette/wall/furniture decorating). Last week I started out by sharing what’s on my media cabinet. Today, I thought it’d be fun to share from my dining room.

thrift score thursday12

The surface we’ll look over today is the dresser I use in my dining room as a buffet, or credenza I could call it, too, I suppose.

It’s always served good purpose as my plant hospital. Plants either end up in the trash or in anorthern part of my house once they come here. This is no plants permanent spot. It’s near the sink and out of the way. It’s had to serve that purpose a lot less recently though so I’ve had some fun decorating it.

Thrifted dresser with interesting hardware styled as a dining room buffet credenza

It holds our craft supplies and extra table setting pieces for when we have guests, so the drawers are ultra practical.

On top I have a mixture of new and old design books. I shared a bit about the vintage design books a while back because I found it so inspiring just how relevant they still are today.

Elephant plant stand with big stack of books

Faux bone inlay lamp atop new and old design books

There’s also a pair of lamps that I jazzed up to give them a sort of bone inlay look. The shades were picked up together at the thrift stire- how lucky to have a pair right?

The little Dutch inspired windmill planter is a fun dose of whimsy and the ginger jar has a peacock on it so it was love at first sight.

Decorating with art supplies, plants and thrift scores

In the center is a woven raised tray that corrals my paintbrushes, a pothos and the vase and pothos clipping from awhile back.

Beneath it all is a table runner from Target.

A Bohemian Christmas Inspiration

July 20, 2016 by CORINNA HENDERSON

The time to think about holiday decorating is going to creep up on us really fast here soon. So to keep the stress of “what to do?!” at bay, my friends and I have come together to share our best Holiday decorating inspiration with you. A la “Christmas in July” style.

If you’re new around here, you may not yet know that I consider myself a bohemian. And my interiors and even holiday decorating reflect that. I bring in some vintage pieces, some whimsical pieces and some pieces from around the world. I went into some detail last Holiday season but today I want to show more options.
