Mexican Bird tapered candlestick holder

thrift score thursday12

Welcome to another week of thrift scores on Thursdays. This week is a bittersweet week for us because we’re saying farewell to one of our old hosts and a welcome to a new host. You never know what life will bring you, and because our dear friend Trisha’s plate was full she’s stepped aside. The sweet part is that our other friend Maggie will be joining us now as a host. And she’s good! If you’ve been around for a bit, you know we love to feature her finds! In fact, here’s one she shared just last week:

Those chairs are incredible. And speaking of chairs, if you were here earlier this week, you’ll know I just did a little project involving dining room seating. I found an older model world market bench for dirt cheap and swapped the legs out to look like one I had been coveting.

But since you regulars have already seen that, the real score I’m sharing today is this adorable mexican, painted bird candle holders. It’s adorable and I love the colors. Plus I’ve totally developed a “thing” for tapered candles so the more holders the merrier. I have it sitting on the dresser that I’m using as a buffet in the dining room.

And now that I’m done showing off what I’ve been spending money on, how about what you’ve all been buying? Ha, it’s all for the good of saving treasures from the dump, right?

Da Features:

Holy boho. Here's a story: I sold all of my oldest daughter's bedroom furniture so I could have $$ to redo my living room last fall. So this week when she was here, we were throwing around ideas for a new bedroom vibe. I'm so excited that she chose bohemian! The very next day, we were driving with a friend after lunch and stopped at a yard sale where I hit the boho jackpot! L👀K at this macramé wall hanging! I bought a pile of stuff that is so fun. I cannot wait to paint and get started. But the crazy thing is, this kind of thing happens to me all the time. Just when I need something or an idea sparks inside me, the right things show up. This is so amazing and I need to know about other people's experience with this. Do things that you think about find their way to you? Do your projects have a way of evolving by themselves? I know this sounds crazy, but this is a real phenomenon in my life. I'm so grateful for it! I never force a project. It sort of just presents itself and it grows into something wonderful. I kinda just go with the flow and follow the direction the wind takes me. Thoughts?! 🌞✨🌙 #showmeyourboho #bohobedroom #starsalign #projectideas #decorinspiration #teenbedroom #interiordesign #bohemian #macrame #70s #hippiestyle #freespirit

Awesome stuff, right? Be sure to “heart” their photos and send some IG love their way. And participate!

Here’s The Rules!

  • We want you to participate! Hit up your local thrift stores, craigslist, yard sales, estate sales, side of the road, anything! Thrifty doesn’t necessarily mean from a thrift store. We want to see your good deals, wacky finds and treasures.
  • Don’t feel like you need to save those finds for Thursdays! Yes, features are shared on our blogs and Instagram on Thursdays, but we’re all checking in on (and using!) the hashtag all week long. So, when you see/find it, feel free to share it!
  • Each week, Trisha from Black and White Obsession, Cassie from Primitive and Proper, Brynne from The Gathered Home, and Myself (A Designer At Home) will pick a favorite thrift score or two to feature! So please note that by linking up with #thriftscorethursday, you are giving us permission to share your finds via social media or on our blogs.
  • Please remember that we can only share love for photos shared on public accounts. If your profile is private, we can’t see your finds.

And now, I have to send you off to the wonderful trio of ladies I’m lucky to call my friends and cohosts:

You are too sweet for all the nice works, I also want to give a big thanks to Trisha for letting me fill her shoes. Hope I can do as good a job as she did… Love these finds and all those awesome thrifters out there who join us every week. (even though spell check says “thrifters” is not a word.) So exited to be here!

Ahh, love that little pottery bird! It’s official: I will be on the lookout for Mexican pottery from now on! I featured a little collection of Mexican birds for Thrift Score Thursday a few weeks ago and now I’m hooked!
