Feminine and Edgy Home Office: Where I Blog

July 9, 2014 by CORINNA HENDERSON

The other day I shared with you where I create. Today I want to follow upΒ with not only where I share my creations, but a #craigslistscore too! The desk I blog at is one of the very first pieces I scored on Craigslist. And for a crazy good deal of $20.

Where I Blog, a space to diy and blog about it

Feminine and Edgy Home Office

I used to keep my desk centered in front of the window to the left, but I found myself gazing out the window far too frequently. Perched here, I find myself very productive and focused.

where i blog

An overview of the wall my desk rests against: DIY Macrame Plant Hanger, DIY Bohemian Arrow, DIY Simple Stenciled Shelf, DIY Gold Plastic Animal Picture Holders, DIY Vase Lamp, DIY Painted Arrow Pillow.

where i blog and a seat by the window

The cork board is a simple square of cork from the craft store attached to the wall with upholstery tacks. The board stays packed with notes, but that’s OK. I found the adorable pink recycling can at the dollar store.

what I keep on my desk to stay motivated and distraction free

My DIY space is Bubby approved too!

This desk has seen so many places! Inside the center drawer are address stamps from Pensacola, FL to McLean, VA.

oh the many places this desk has seen #craigslistscore

Just beneath the work surface are 2 panels that pull out for additional work surface area. How cool is that?

extra work surfaces, where I blog

I keep cosmetics and beauty items in the drawers to the right for now. I’m not sure where I’ll end up putting them, I don’t plan on storing them permanently in the desk.

dovetail joints on drawer fronts, where I blog

What do you store in your desk drawers? I’m never sure what to put in my desk drawers. I’ve got tools in the bottom left drawer and the larger top left drawer is where I keep our bill paying paperwork. (Aren’t the dovetail joints to die for?)

drawers where i store my makeup

I try to keep things to a bare minimum on the work surface to avoid distractions. It may seem like a lot for other people, but for me this is bare minimum. The pig atop the candle has a solar panel and when I turn my lamp on it makes him flap his wings. Isn’t that cute (and necessary πŸ˜‰ )?

atop my desk, where I blog

The wood is by no means in great condition. There are deep scratches and dents all over, but I personally love the look it has.

#craigslistscore a huge desk with loads of work surfaces and storage

Those boxes beneath the desk are temporary. They’re fragile items that I need to get around to fixing. They’re sentimental so I’m taking my time to figure out how to fix them.

As always, I hope you’ve enjoyed a glimpse into my world. This space is turning out to be pretty special and I love sharing the progress with you!

I am a craigslist stalker!! I have so much fun finding just the right thing on there, so I just had to come check out your find. What an awesome desk! And you’re right, a total steal! I think my favorite part are the stamps inside, how cool that it has a visual history like that. Glad I stopped by! (Found you on Create It Thursday)

Corinna, love your office. I love old desk like the one that you have. You are brave, I would not photograph the hot mess that is located in my desk drawers.

Ha, Thanks Carmody! I’ve got to keep it real. I don’t want to pretend things are what they’re not!

I loved seeing where you blog! Creating an office area for me is definitely in the works for this year. Thanks for the tip for putting the desk in the corner so you don’t get distracted while working!

Oh I used to have a desk like that with the pull out panels and everything! I’m wishing all it took to keep ME focused was to pull the desk away from the window. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ As for what I keep in the drawers…nothing right now! The baby keeps dumping everything and so I bought some little drawers at Hobby Lobby and keep everything way up on the very tip top of my desk now. πŸ™‚ I like the colors you’ve used!!! Jill

Thanks so much! I ADORE this desk and am so thankful I can close the door on this room! Bubby is still horrible at leaving things alone in drawers. Whenever he’s in here with me he normally goes straight for the makeup. Meh, this time will eventually pass πŸ˜‰

i avoid a desk with drawers, i’ll end up with a bunch of junk in the drawers. i commend you for having drawers and not planning on keeping what is in them in them for the long term. I love how you’ve spruced up the space you work in, its good motivation to make my own space inspiring.

Starting LDN and everything else I’ve tried for CFS so far…

I’ve been taking low dose naltrexone (ldn) for just over a month at this point and I wanted to share an update on how it’s been going thus far. I started taking ldn because I tried everything else in an attempt to feel better. At my last PCP appointment, I told him I’d be trying […]

Checkerboard: The Latest Insta-Trend

You ever first see a trend and think, “nope, not for me.” That was, and still a little, me with the checkerboard trend. I’ve never liked checkerboard walls or floors. At least not enough to semi-permanently put it somewhere in my home. But I am still in pursuit of an interior design certificate and job […]

My best Amazon Prime Purchases Ever

Celebrating Pride Month With LGBT Businesses

Part of mindful consumerism, for me at least, is intentionally seeking out companies founded and owned by marginalized communities. Heritage and pride months are the perfect reminder to seek out alternative sources for goods and services. Join me in celebrating pride month with LGBT businesses below.

AAPI Skincare & Beauty Haul & Demo (dry skin, fragrance sensitive)

As my mental health has improved, I’ve enjoyed getting back into my mindfulness consumerism series. Simple Minty Eye Makeup Look (Indigenous Beauty Brands)

As much as I loathe dealing with fallout atop base makeup, I still always start with base makeup. But lucky for me, there’s no powder products going on my eyes today. Despite being a simpler makeup look, there’s still a lot of drama going on. A sharp cat eye winged liner elevates the eyes. And […]

Full Face Latinx Brands

From September 15 – October 15 is Hispanic Heritage Month. During this time I wanted to put together a full face of Hispanic owned beauty brands. Here’s My Faves for Hispanic Heritage Month

Hispanic Heritage Month is upon us! It’s always my goal to be mindful of where I’m spending my money. During Heritage and Pride months, I try to make an effort to seek out brands that I may not otherwise be aware of. It’s no surprise, what’s out there is truly amazing. And I want to […]
