#ThriftScoreThursday

Hey there, Guys!
Here on Thursdays we chat thrifty and this week I’ve got a fun little set up to share with you. You probably know that I prefer to save my #thriftscorethursday finds until I’ve had a change to utilize and style them. So I’ve been keeping the main event from this set up under wraps while I get things situated.
For the longest time, I’ve had the one cabinet beside my sofa and the other side has been pretty bare. It’s always felt visually heavy on the one side so it’s been on the “list of things I’m hunting for” to find another cabinet for the other side of the sofa. And, I found it!

And at a thrift store nonetheless. I normally have zero luck scoring furniture form thrift stores and obtain most pieces through Craigslist, but this one was in great condition and was listed for a great price at $15.
There are a lot of features that made this the perfect imperfect match for the other table. They’re both a similar wood tone, have the two door cabinet, are essentially the same height, and have details that compliment one another. The cane inserts on this one mimic the cane inserts of my credenza/media console.

Atop the table I have some of my favorite Home/Design books, a couple plants (that wood-look ceramic bowl is thrifted and the plant inside was a gift from a craigslist seller when we came to buy a piece of furniture), the gold tray I picked up from a different thrift store, and that mug is the latest mug I thrifted. Basically the coolest mug I’ve ever happened across and since I collect mugs, it had to come home. You’ll also spot one of the brass birds I scored ages ago.

I’ve been reading Emily Henderson’s book, “STYLED,” and have been so enjoying putting the tips and secrets she shares to use. I’m thrilled with the way the end table has turned out.
And because I’m sharing my own styled surface, I wanted to focus on sharing other styled shots from the #thriftscorethursday feed. It’s the best feed out there and full of great inspiration so make sure you’re checking it out and tagging your thrift scores.

Hey guys! As you may already know, because I’ve been going on and on about it, I’m in the middle of a bathroom remodel. From studs on up, we’ve been changing out the old for new while infusing our own style in the space. It’s been expensive and we’ve bought a lot of new material for the space which is very unlike me. I prefer to source second hand as much as I can. While I didn’t find a used bathtub, vanity, lighting, tile, or anything like that, I did find a few small decorative pieces that I am so stoked to use in the space.

I have been on a basket thrifting marathon this year. Every time I pop into one of my favorite thrift stores, I’ve walked out with baskets. Beside our vanity, I’m putting up shelves that are 7 inches deep. I found these perfect little baskets for corralling little bathroom odds and ends. And then the little ceramic container had to come home. Of course I haven’t a clue what I’ll put in all the little containers I’ve picked up, but I’m sure they’ll fill up fast once we bring everything back in.

And since I totally failed at meeting the One Room Challenge deadline, I thought I’d kick off the features from #ThriftScoreThursday with this gloriously beautiful space designed by Kyla of house Of Hipsters for none other than One Room Challenge.

Hey Guys!

I don’t think I’ve taken a moment to ask you how your Halloween was? It’s been a busy week here what with 2 giveaways going on right now, and a third tomorrow! And then all of the insane work going into the bathroom remodel (there’s tons of thrifted goodies I’ve been holding back but I can’t wait to start sharing them next Thursday!). We didn’t even do a proper Halloween. My kid sat with a bowl of candy on my mom’s porch perplexed why he had to give it to other kids.

But, by the looks of things on Instagram, it looked like there was a lot of fun going on. Sandra from @vintausshop shared a sweet photo of her daughter in a vintage ballerina costume. What an amazing find! There certainly wasn’t anything that cool at my thrift store. And the makeup is adorable!

And then check out this jolly skeleton decor @mariaski63 scored. And I love the way she set him up for the photo. Very reminiscent of dia de los muertos decor I’ve seen. My mom has had several of these paper skeletons with the movable joints over the years. So nice this one made it’s way to a new home instead of a trash bin!

What about this aviator costume from Hayley? Isn’t it phenomenal? Everything but the cap came from the thrift store, but she mentions the cap came with a bit of ingenuity so all around a stellar costume!

And the last Halloween themed feature I have for you today is this beautifully ominous vignette from @creativelicence. I am enjoying the black and white. I spy what looks like vintage milk glass, which I normally wouldn’t associate with Halloween, but it’s been paired perfectly in this set up.

And because I just simply could NOT let this #thriftscorethursday pass without showing off this BEAUTIFUL sofa spotted by @theeventmaker. It would have come home with me. My husband wouldn’t have said anything aloud and all would have been magical with the world.

And that’s it from me on this beautiful #thriftscorethursday! I’m skipping sharing a find of my own this week because I don’t have a finished (or almost finished) bathroom to show them off in. And I really want the full effect! So, I’ll see you next week?

Hey Guys!

It’s the Thursday before Halloween and that means a couple of things for #ThriftScoreThursday. 1. We love any reason to get thrifty. Save a costume from a landfill, create a unique one from finds at the thrift store, or just spice up your seasonal decor with all the one of a kind treasures. Share those finds with the #thriftscorethursday hashtag on Instagram because we are 2. Planning a thriftily Halloween feature palooza next week. And 3. We have a plethora of awesome guest cohosts today to help spread the word about this fun feature.

My find. I’m not a Halloween person. I think the concept is weird (why are kids allowed to take candy from strangers one day a year?) and I don’t enjoy dressing up. I don’t find short term seasonal decorating fun for anything but Christmas (and that’s because I start the day after Halloween). But, I found the most adorable little piece. Like, seriously so adorable. (And I think if you do enjoy Halloween you should absolutely save castaways from the landfill!)

This little ghost head is too cute. He’s got an opening in the back for I’m thinking a tealight. I like the idea of using him as an incense burner and just picked some up last night. He’ll look charming with smoke coming out his eyes!

You guys know how much the hosts and I love to save treasures from heading to the landfill and Halloween is no different! From costumes to decor, second hand finds are awesome. My local thrift stores have been gearing up for weeks with a massive selection of costumes and loads of sweet decorative items to sort through. I especially adore that little piece of pottery with stars painted purple. It would be fun to use in a Halloween mantle display!
