And with the weather warming up and a lot of sitting happening outside, wouldn’t it be so nice to have these cool chairs to sit in? Easily the coolest outdoor chairs ever.

The Ornate Wood Cabinet I’ve Avoided Talking About

April 21, 2016 by CORINNA HENDERSON

thrift score thursday12

Hey There! So I guess I’ll just dive in, instead of beating around the bush about this piece. Lookie what I recently picked up!

thrifted ornate cabinet with cool hardware

It’s not real wood. And there’s a small spot of damage that you can’t even see when skimming this picture. I didn’t realize it wasn’t real wood until I saw it. But I still LOVED the hardware. So I bought it for the $60 anyways. But then we got it home and I noticed the damage on the door. It’s hollow. Coolest hollow core door ever? Maybe. But that makes it a bit difficult when wanting to leave the piece as is.

So I avoided talking about it because I was so certain that I was going to patch the hole and paint the whole piece. I definitely think it’d look cool painted. But I just didn’t wanna. It’s not the final decision. But for now, I’m not painting it.

So anyways… Let’s look at some fab features, mkay?

Just… YASSS. Loving and crushing hard on that epic basket collage.

Where To Buy: Trendy and Cheap Planter Pots

April 14, 2016 by CORINNA HENDERSON

Hello! If you’re a quick one, you’re already putting several things together. 1. It’s Thursday, so we’re talking thrifted items so naturally the “Where To Buy” is thrifting. 2. We’re working on the dining room for the One Room Challenge, I love plants, plants are a big part of my decorating style so I’ve thrifted like crazy to find lots of planters. 3. This is totally the follow up to my post earlier this week where I covered my “pro” tips for plant purchasing. 4. I’m going to show you pictures of the plants and planter pots I’ve just bought!

First up, let’s chat about the vignette I shared on Instagram. All 3 basket planters were picked up for less than $10 at thrift stores. Eclectic interiors is having it’s time in the trendy spotlight so finding unique planters at the thrift store is an inexpensive way of trying out the look. Bonus: The ginger jar and tall wooden vase were also just picked up at the thrift store.

Brass containers go for big bucks on sites like Etsy. They also work really well for eclectic, glam and boho interiors. I found this one for $2 at the Goodwill outlet. It’s huge! Really, any large container can be used as a planter like this. Keep your eyes peeled and get creative.

And here’s a small one you’ve seen pop up here before.

Another basket planter- these are my favorite for a good dose of texture to a space. And the little ceramic Dutch inspired windmill planter. Isn’t that just so cute? I really enjoy the juxtaposition of the windmill and the succulent!

This would fill up that blank wall space perfectly! Macrame wall hanging tutorial with knots and variations - A Designer At Home

By spending a bit of time sorting through the shelves at the thrift store, allowing yourself to have some fun with your decor and reimagining pieces as a new life as a planter- you can beef up your plant collection for way cheaper than buying pots at the home improvements stores.

Missed my plant buying tips? Find those here.

It’s feature time! I went through the feed and found even more wonderful examples of cute and trendy thrifted planter pots. As always, I encourage you to give the features a visit and some love.

Thrifted Beads – a #swapitlikeitshot sneak peek

April 7, 2016 by CORINNA HENDERSON

thrift score thursday12

It’s every creative bloggers favorite time of year- Swap It Like It’s Hot! It’s back and it’s exciting because I love being surprised with thrifted goodies and a challenge. To keep you in suspense, I’m not going to show you what my sender sent me. But rather something I thrifted to use on one of the thrifted items I received.

A lot of thrift stores will have bags of miscellaneous crafts and decor items. I like to take a chance on these bags because every time there’s been something I love in it. One of the last bags I picked up had these pretty light switchplates. I painted them with Rustoleum’s oil rubbed bronze to match the other switchplates in the house and I love the feminine detail.

thrifted light switch plates

In that same bag was this little jewelry box and beans. Looks like they belonged to one or two broken pieces of jewelry. I love those turquoise beads though. And I used them in one of the projects I’ll be sharing tomorrow!

The evolution of 1 foot of wall space

March 24, 2016 by CORINNA HENDERSON

thrift score thursday12

I’m going to show you the same 1 foot wide sliver of wall 3 different times today. And all of these pictures were taken in the past month. Why? because I just could not decide on what to put here! Only someone who has a problem would worry so much over a small bit of space. I’m sure most people would do nothing or throw up some photos and call it a day. It’s been bothering me since day one though.

My first solution was to hang a row of these adorably small baskets you can see to the far right of the picture (never did get a good shot of them-whoops!). I liked them but my husband bumped them often so I pulled them to use elsewhere.

cheery vintage eclectic hallway makeover- refreshed in 3 short weeks

Then I tried this basket because I like the design the weave makes on the bottom. But it wasn’t the right shape.

woven basket as wall decor

And thennnnn. This past weekend I was picking through to “wood decor” shelves at my fave thrifting spot and found this pretty piece. It’s actually plastic. Poo. But still really pretty and a mere $2 so it came home with me.

decorative thrifted wall decor

And now, I’ve gone through the Thrift Score Thursday feed and have narrowed my favorites down to 4 to share with you today. The first one I just just had to feature is this collection of mexican painted pottery. What a coincidence after last week, amiright? Mellabobella, if you’re selling them- call me! I love them.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BDOTLifsHfi/

These open shelves from Jessica just made me happy. With the state of chaos around me 24/7 at home. It gives me hope when I see a pretty and well styled shelf like this one.

And speaking of well styled, isn’t this wooden cubby adorable with all those air plants? I can’t keep those things alive to save my life but these ones look so happy. And the elephant is the perfect touch.

And, for my last feature, this gorgeous boho-goodness has me like, “Damnnnn Bee, back at it again with the textiles!” I can’t get enough of that vine, nor can I get enough of Bee’s gorgeous Etsy shop.

Mexican Bird tapered candlestick holder

March 17, 2016 by CORINNA HENDERSON

thrift score thursday12

Welcome to another week of thrift scores on Thursdays. This week is a bittersweet week for us because we’re saying farewell to one of our old hosts and a welcome to a new host. You never know what life will bring you, and because our dear friend Trisha’s plate was full she’s stepped aside. The sweet part is that our other friend Maggie will be joining us now as a host. And she’s good! If you’ve been around for a bit, you know we love to feature her finds! In fact, here’s one she shared just last week:

https://www.instagram.com/p/BC26zUGJk13/

Those chairs are incredible. And speaking of chairs, if you were here earlier this week, you’ll know I just did a little project involving dining room seating. I found an older model world market bench for dirt cheap and swapped the legs out to look like one I had been coveting.

DSC00351

But since you regulars have already seen that, the real score I’m sharing today is this adorable mexican, painted bird candle holders. It’s adorable and I love the colors. Plus I’ve totally developed a “thing” for tapered candles so the more holders the merrier. I have it sitting on the dresser that I’m using as a buffet in the dining room.

And now that I’m done showing off what I’ve been spending money on, how about what you’ve all been buying? Ha, it’s all for the good of saving treasures from the dump, right?
