The New Year New Room Refresh Challenge Week 2 Update

January 17, 2017 by CORINNA HENDERSON

Last week I’d said I wanted to have the wallpaper put up by this first check in. And… it didn’t happen. I guess to give myself credit, I did pick up some slack off the other weeks.

Friday evening I started to exhibit the signs of a friendly stomach bug. Yeah… All the time I’d thought I’d be dedicating to wallpapering turned into recovery time. But I am better and I’m ready to get this task done!

Progress on My Global Boho Dining ROOM Refresh

The wallpaper I’m using for the space is Descano provided by Wallpaper Bohlevard. If you’ve been here for a while, you may vaguely remember my trying to narrow down what wallpaper patter. I wanted in this space. Yes, this same space. Haha.

Instead of putting up the wallpaper, I found myself collection accessories from about the house. And I picked up a few treasures from Amazon and Cost Plus World Market.

I plan on using these really reflective and boho mandala tapestries I bought through Amazon as the curtains in this space. I really don’t need curtains, but I feel like they add a layer of coziness to a space that is unmatched with any othere decorating.

From World Market, I picked up some picture frames, a lamp, a pouf, a pillow (that may already have found a home elsewhere in the house ?), a lantern and some hanging decor.

And the main three pieces that are really pulling the color scheme of this space together is the Idalia print by Juniper Briggs on minted.com, the pink and green Ghanaian handmade basket I picked up at the Virginia coastal home and Garden show, and the ceramic bowl I thrifted… some measure of time that’s a while ago but I can’t remember specifically.

The chairs you’re getting a peek of are from LampsPlus. I love that they’re upholstered yet still very in vibe with the mid-century feel I wanted some of the pieces in the room to have.

Am I on schedule? Ehhhhh…. I’ll know better next week ?.

In between updates, I did share a collection of lights that are perfect over a dining table in a bohemian style space. If you missed that:

If you don’t already know and are just jumping into things, this progress is part of the New Year New Room Refresh Challenge. Hosted by Stephanie of Casa Watkins Living, the challenge has a group of bloggers/stylist refresh a space within 4 weeks. The other participants are links here:

that wallpaper is really pretty and would look AMAZING in your space. I also like the curtains, it is really pretty. Those chairs add a nice flair to the space and would complement all the natural elements nicely. I cannot wait to see how the wallpaper looks!

I’m dying to see this wallpaper up! Loving look and feel of the space so far with the elements you shared! And I totally agree, that curtains just add that “something factor” to a room that other accessories aren’t able to.

Autumn Bucket List (Things to do in Fall)

Starting LDN and everything else I’ve tried for CFS so far…

I’ve been taking low dose naltrexone (ldn) for just over a month at this point and I wanted to share an update on how it’s been going thus far. I started taking ldn because I tried everything else in an attempt to feel better. At my last PCP appointment, I told him I’d be trying […]

Checkerboard: The Latest Insta-Trend

You ever first see a trend and think, “nope, not for me.” That was, and still a little, me with the checkerboard trend. I’ve never liked checkerboard walls or floors. At least not enough to semi-permanently put it somewhere in my home. But I am still in pursuit of an interior design certificate and job […]

My best Amazon Prime Purchases Ever

I’m sure you don’t need me to tell you that it’s time for Amazon’s annual Prime day. And you likely don’t need me to tell you about my best Amazon Prime purchases ever. But I’m telling you, these are such good products and I got them for a steal too!

Celebrating Pride Month With LGBT Businesses

Part of mindful consumerism, for me at least, is intentionally seeking out companies founded and owned by marginalized communities. AAPI Skincare & Beauty Haul & Demo (dry skin, fragrance sensitive)

As my mental health has improved, I’ve enjoyed getting back into my mindfulness consumerism series. With AAPI month upon us, and quickly coming to an end, I took stock of what I needed to purchase and set out to buy replacements from AAPI skincare and beauty brands. Simple Minty Eye Makeup Look (Indigenous Beauty Brands)

As much as I loathe dealing with fallout atop base makeup, I still always start with base makeup. But lucky for me, there’s no powder products going on my eyes today. Despite being a simpler makeup look, there’s still a lot of drama going on. A sharp cat eye winged liner elevates the eyes. And […]

Full Face Latinx Brands

From September 15 – October 15 is Hispanic Heritage Month. During this time I wanted to put together a full face of Hispanic owned beauty brands. Some of these brands are well known and others are smaller brands. I tried to find a balance of big name beauty brands and up and coming. After testing […]

Here’s My Faves for Hispanic Heritage Month

Hispanic Heritage Month is upon us! It’s always my goal to be mindful of where I’m spending my money. During Heritage and Pride months, I try to make an effort to seek out brands that I may not otherwise be aware of. It’s no surprise, what’s out there is truly amazing. And I want to […]
